LITTLE TREASURES EXHIBITION Jun 2014
Catologue and Press: 'Little Treasues' exhibtition, Bologne, Italy April 2014 (below).
Little Treasures - La Magia del Piccolo:
Good things come in small packages or, as we say in Italy, it’s the small barrels that hold the best wine. This saying is often quite true and, metaphorically, it also applies to culture and art. Indeed, the smaller the area where art operates, the harder it is to squeeze content into it. Yet, the final product often proves surprising and extraordinary, precisely because the small size of the support forces artists to make ‘condensed’ choices but also results in ‘condensed’ effects. This is the magic of Little Treasures, an international appointment with small formats, promoted by Trevisan International Art (TIA). The exhibition opened at Galleria De Marchi in Bologna on Saturday 12 April, with the participation of many exhibiting artists and experts, and it run until 14 April. This year’s event is special, as Trevisan International Art celebrates its tenth year of successful activity. The many exhibitions organised and the increasing participation of numerous artists coming from all over the world only prove Paola Trevisan’s success as a curator.
This year’s event was characterised by a cultural opening to sculpture and photography, which was particularly represented this year, and make the exhibition especially fascinating: very rarely does an exhibition bring together qualified personalities from all over the world who can testify, with their works, what is going on globally in terms of artistic research and experimentation. The curator’s thorough selection of participants guarantees a collection of professional and valuable artworks. Also this time, the quality of the works, the artists’ curricula and their enthusiasm in accepting to discover and address the challenging but successful small format have made, this collective exhibition one of Bologna’s main cultural events, not to be missed by either art operators or the public.
